Frequently asked questions
Why should I be concerned about my colon?
Although not the focus of conventional health regimes, the colon plays a major leading role in general well being. When the colon is full of toxins due to accumulation of fecal matter, one's physical health can be impacted, possibly leading to more serious conditions over time.
How much does it cost?
New Client is $100.00 (Dr. Fees and Consultation included)
Existing Client is $85.00
We also offer discounted packages on a series of 3, 6 and 12 session colonic plans.
Is a colon hydrotherapy session safe?
Yes. In fact, with the modern advancements of today's colon hydrotherapy devices and standardization of training and procedures, colon hydrotherapy is often safer than administering an enema. And, with the dangers of laxative overuse, colonics have a definite advantage and greater long-term benefits.
What will I feel like after the colonic session?
After a colonic, you should be able to continue with your daily plans, drive, go back to work etc. Some people feel energized straight away, some feel tired “in a nice way”-in the same way as one feels tired after a good workout, some feel lighter, some feel very hungry, some don’t feel like eating for hours afterwards. Some may feel quite tired as the detoxification process kicks in deeper, and in these instances we recommend coming for a repeat colonic without delay.
Will a colonic fix my bowel and my digestion?
Colonic hydrotherapy is a tool. It is a powerful tool that gives you a head start in improving your diet, lifestyle and exercise regime. However, a tool is only as good as the person using it. If you use colonics to help your body improve, feel younger and work more effectively, then this is what you will achieve. However, if you use colonic as roadside assistance only, then you will achieve a short-term rather than long-term improvement.
What is the difference between colon hydrotherapy, enemas and laxatives?
Colon hydrotherapy, is a safe, effective method of removing waste from the entire length of large intestine (5-6 ft), without the use of drugs. By introducing filtered and temperature regulated water into the colon, the waste is softened and loosened, resulting in evacuation through natural peristalsis.
An enema only reaches the lower part of the colon or about 1 foot. Laxatives generally contain drugs and chemicals that irritate the colon walls and are known for dehydrating the bowel instead of hydrating the system as with colon hydrotherapy.
Does colon hydrotherapy hurt?
Most people describe their colon hydrotherapy session as being both refreshing and relaxing. The instillation of warm, ultra-violet water filter purification is very gentle. Therefore, the pressure of water (p.s.i.) entering your colon is less than that of a standard hospital enema. Clients often describe the insertion of the speculum as "a feeling of oddness for about 5 seconds".
Should I see my doctor before my first colon hydrotherapy session?
If you have a concern about your health or the appropriateness of colon hydrotherapy you should consult a doctor. If you are diagnosed with diverticulitis, diverticulosis, colitis, crohn's disease, severe hemorrhoids, rectal/intestinal tumors or if you are pregnant, you would be required to have a prescription from your personal GP in order to receive colon hydrotherapy.
Contraindications for colon hydrotherapy include the following:
You should not pursue colon hydrotherapy services if you have any of the following conditions:
Recent Rectal or Colon Surgery
Cancer of the Rectum or Colon
Congestive Heart Failure
Kidney Disease (decreased kidney function)
Fissures or Fistulas
As always, we will be more than happy to discuss the colon hydrotherapy process with your physician should he/she be unfamiliar with the procedure or have any questions.
Could there be cross-contamination from other clients?
All materials, including tubing, speculums and drapes are for one time use and are disposed after each client. In addition, the FDA Class II cleared medical device (the hydrotherapy device) has a one way check valve to assure fresh, clean, purified water instillation and an internal self-cleaning system that uses the same hospital grade disinfectant that is utilized in some operating rooms.
How long does a colonic session take?
Please allow 1.5 hours for your initial visit so the colon hydrotherapist has a chance to review your history, address questions, and perform the colonic session. Follow-up visits take approximately one hour.
How many colonic sessions will I need?
As each client is different based on the degree of cleansing needed, your situation will be evaluated during the initial visit. We highly recommend doing a second colonic 24-48 hours after the initial visit.
What should I do to prepare for a colonic?
Taking the proper precautions before undergoing a colonic can make a big difference. We strongly recommend the following:
No eating 2 hours before your session. You can drink as much as you need to.
At least 24 hours before your session, follow the following regimen:
Begin hydrating your body with half your body weight in ounces of water.
No carbonated beverages
No red meat
To enhance your colonic process, focus on eating fruits and cooked vegetables
Avoid "gassy" food, such as beans, cabbage, onions, etc.
Can I get a colonic during my menstrual period?
Absolutely. In fact getting a colonic during your menstrual cycle is usually a good time to receive a colonic since your body is already cleansing. Your flow will not interfere with the success of the treatment.
Will I experience any intestinal discomfort or fatigue after the session?
Usually not, but since the colonic will stir up a lot of old debris and toxins, you might experience some minor nausea or fatigue with your first session. If any discomfort occurs, it is recommended to rest and apply a warm heating pad to the abdomen. If you wish, a mild vegetable broth or peppermint tea is usually soothing at this time. Any discomfort will usually pass within 24 hours. Follow-up sessions provide the necessary means to continue hydrating and cleansing which is often reported to produce an array of beneficial symptoms.
